However, we also recognise other people without this experience, but who are enthusiastic and who may have other valuable physical, practical and life skills to pass on can also offer a tremendous input to the members who attend our day centre. We therefore, welcome all enquiries about volunteering with us.
Volunteers undergo a similar recruitment process to our employed staff including the need to undertake an enhanced DBS check. This is to maintain our strong commitment to helping ensure our members are protected as far as possible from people who are not suitable to work with them.
Our volunteers will have a Senior Lead who is designated as their particular ‘mentor’ and to whom they can turn to for day to day guidance and advice.
Supporting college students
We welcome and support college students who are studying Health & Social Care, students on work experience, 6th form students on a student enrichment placement who have an interest in healthcare and would like to give their time in helping people within the community. University students and apprentice social workers are also welcome.
A member of the management team meets with all students prior to their placement and goes through a selection of paperwork to ensure they are suitable. These students work alongside our staff observing and learning.
